Ventilation: Choosing the right fan for your camper
Proper ventilation is one of the simplest upgrades that pays dividends year-round in your Topo Toppers camper. Whether you’re chasing snow in the winter or desert heat in the summer, moving air through the tent keeps you more comfortable, protects your gear, and helps your camper stay fresh. Below, we’ll break down why ventilation matters, how it helps in cold and hot conditions, and the two fan options we offer, each with its own strengths. Or, jump to the bottom of the page to watch a video recap of both fan options and features.
Winter Ventilation: Managing Condensation
Cold weather camping often brings condensation. Warm, moist air from inside your camper hits cold surfaces like windows and aluminum panels, turning vapor into water.
So why ventilate in the winter?
Reduces window and wall condensation
Helps prevent mildew and musty smells
Keeps bedding and insulation drier
Running an exhaust fan at a low, steady speed in winter (especially while sleeping or cooking) allows for moisture to escape without dumping all your heat.
Summer Ventilation: Staying Cooler
In hot weather, ventilation becomes your primary cooling tool. Even with the tent popped, heat can linger inside the camper if air isn’t moving.
Benefits in summer include:
Pulling hot air up and out of the living space
Drawing in cooler air through screened windows
Reducing the need to rely solely on shade or elevation
Making evenings and sleep far more comfortable
Running an intake fan in summer can dramatically lower perceived temperatures by cooling your skin and circulating air.

I’m really excited about your product, we have a 2017 Tundra max cab, stock suspension and wheels. My concern and question is the total height of the full topper when it’s down, I.e. will it fit in the garage?
Will you provide the measures of the unit, from the top of the bed surface to the top to the unit in the down position?
